Police in Staffordshire today began a week-long operation to tackle theft and burglary, and bring those involved to justice.

'Operation Impact' will run through to Saturday, and the force are hoping it will allow them to build on positive figures recorded between April and September, which showed that 'serious acquisitive crime' fell by 8%

Assistant Chief Constable Julian Blazeby said he hopes that residents across the county feel safe and reassured that the force are targeting such criminals.

"I'm looking forward to some really good results as we work proactively across the county to target criminals, detect and reduce crime and make our communities feel safe."

"We will also be working with partners, colleagues from education, social services and road crime teams to deal with a variety of issues such as anti-social behaviour and truancy to non-insured vehicles," he continued.

"Whilst serious acquisitive crime rates are falling across Staffordshire, we are not complacent, and it remains a priority for ourselves and our partners to tackle the issue by bringing the offenders to justice."

You can follow the operation through the force's pages on twitter and

Facebook.
