    Over 10,000 Staffordshire County Council employees are set to pocket a wage increase this year - despite a national pay freeze.     Taxis in Uttoxeter were subject to a safety crackdown this weekend, which resulted in four vehicles being taken off the road. The council, working alongside Staffordshire Police, VOSA and HM Customs and Excise, carried out random checks to ensure that taxis were roadworthy and safe to carry passengers.     East Staffordshire Borough Council have turned recycling pink recently with the introduction of 'WEEE banks'. Standing for Waste, Electrical and Electronic Equipment, the banks will allow people to dispose of small electrical items such as shavers, kettles, remote controls and hairdryers.
